By this time of year, kids have often started to put together their wish list for the holidays. Home buyers in Edmonton are also putting together wish lists and whether they’ve been naughty or nice, they have a better chance of getting exactly what they ask for this year. We’re seeing very robust inventory levels right now. That’s providing home buyers the chance to be choosey. They can put together a list of features they really want, knowing there’s an extensive selection of properties for them to view.
As a result, the average days on market for home in our city is up. In fact, at 57 days on market in October, the average days on market was 8% higher than in September. We always expect homes to take a little longer to sell at this time of year, but it is actually taking 6 days longer than the same time last year as well.
That makes it a great time to be a home buyer. Sellers can be excited about their chance of getting what they want though, too. Despite slower sales, prices are up over last year.
